What to Do When Your Girlfriend Wants Space – Hint: It’s Not What Your Instincts are Telling You!

Knowing “what to do when your girlfriend wants space” is tricky. One wrong move and she’ll break the whole thing off. Do nothing and she’ll think you don’t care. Your instincts are telling you one thing, but in many cases giving into your instincts will push her away.
Instinct: Fight, Beg or Plead
When she asks for some space, you automatically start trying to talk her out of it. Having a discussion is one thing, but fighting, begging or pleading with her is not the best thing to do. One, it just shows your desperate and that’s not attractive. Two, if you push too hard she might just break it off for good.
Solution: Learn how to communicate your feelings that you don’t want to break up and that you care about her, but don’t push too hard.
Instinct: Become Her Stalker
We’ve all seen the guys (and girls) who text, email or call 47 times a day. Basically, they turn into a stalker with absolutely no filter. They are so focused on trying to keep her, they assault her with their messages. Maybe they leave long messages proclaiming their love, maybe they don’t say anything at all. Remember, your girlfriend will be able to see how many times you’ve tried to call.
Solution: Ask her how much time she wants. So what she wants is a communication break. Ask her directly how long she expects to “want her space”. Keep communication limited during this time. But remember it’s not okay to keep you hanging on indefinitely.
Instinct: Try to Make Her Jealous
So you are going out with a bunch of friends. You know that she will be there or at least some of her friends will be there. You ignore her completely but you see some hot girls who look lonely. So you come up with the brilliant plan of making her jealous. That’s instinct, but it’s not the best way to keep your girlfriend.
Solution: Go out and have fun. There is no reason to sit at home and brood. But don’t make a spectacle with other girls just to make her jealous. Don’t lead on some poor girl. Just think about having fun with your friends. Knowing what to do when your girlfriend wants space does not mean playing these games.
